Made to be at home in creation
"In God's generous ecology there is room for all of us," says Miranda Harris, co-founder of international Christian organisation A Rocha. Speaking at Catalyst Live in Manchester and Reading, Harris suggests that God formed us to relate to every part of his creation - not just to people. "Many of us are disasterously disconnected from creation," Harris argues, and for a long time Christians failed to engage with the movement against the destruction of our planet. "'They'll know we are Christians by our love,' we say, but we forgot to love what God loves." Making a community with a place and all its creatures begins with inclusion, with opening our eyes and noticing everything and everyone around us - "all of creation deserves attention," Harris says. God made us to belong, he invites us to come and make ourselves at home in his creation, and to find family where we are. "Let's teach our children wonder and take time to be amazed," Harris concludes. In the earth, God has blessed us with an incredible home.
