Conference for Christian thought-leaders launched
Do you ever get staid and tired in your thinking? When was the last time you saw things from a different perspective andwere stimulated by intellectual debate?
Stretching our faith and minds is the aim of a new conference this November in Manchester and Reading, organised by BMS World Mission and inspired by Mission Catalyst, the BMS magazine on theological and cultural issues. Catalyst Live will explore areas of public life like science, business, the arts, theology and apologetics, presented by a range of brilliant speakers.
Professor Jürgen Moltmann, whose book The Crucified God has been described by BMS General Director David Kerrigan as “the most ground breaking contribution to theological thought in the last 50 years”; Dr Stephen Holmes from St Andrews University; Dr Anthony Reddie, a Research Fellow in Black Theology at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham; and Dr Yohanna Katanacho, Academic Dean at Bethlehem Bible College will be speaking at Catalyst Live.
Catalyst Live will take place on 27 and 28 November 2013 and you can book your tickets at the Catalyst Live website.
Other thought-leaders appearing will include leading apologist Professor John Lennox, well known for his debates on the existence of God with Richard Dawkins; Dr Denis Alexander, molecular biologist and director of the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion at Cambridge University; Sharon Dirckx, specialist in brain imaging and apologist for the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics; and musician, composer and producer Mark Edwards. The conference will be hosted by Dr David Coffey, Global Ambassador for BMS and a former Baptist World Alliance President.
“Catalyst Live will be a fascinating day full of intelligent contributions presented in a captivating manner,” said David Kerrigan, BMS General Director.
